Israeli forces are removing Palestinians from central Rafah, in the clearest sign yet they plan to intensify the ongoing assault on the million people in the city. In the North of Gaza, there is intense fighting as Netyanhu drives ahead with his genocidal war. Meanwhile the movement in solidarity with Palestine continues to deepen and emply new tactics to oppose Israeli terror. The student camps in Britain, and those around the world, have changed the dynamic of the movement.  See below for this weeks local and national action for Palestine.  We urge all our readers to show support for these events and the student protest camp outside the natural history museum.

US campuses in revolt: Palestine, imperialism and the crisis of US democracy

At the beginning of May there were over 80 student encampments in solidarity with Palestine on university campuses in the United States. They continue to spread, despite the fact that 2,300 protesters have been arrested or detained since 18 April.

A wave of pro-Palestine university occupations and encampments began in Britain as well, inspired by the US students.

The scale of the American protests invites comparison with the global student movement of the 1960s. It too was driven by the spectacle of a murderous imperialist war—Vietnam then, Gaza now.

The experience of the Vietnam War was a practical lesson for millions in the nature of imperialism. The same thing is happening today at a time when rival imperialist powers are lining up against each other globally. The brutality of the police and zionist vigilantes against the protests shows the violent nature of the US state.

Come to the meeting to discuss the crisis of US democracy and the encampment protests in the UK.

International Socialism 182 focuses on the politics of Palestine and the Middle East, from how drone warfare is reshaping the nature of inter-state rivalries and why Israel is ramping up its war drive with Lebanon to how fossil imperialism continues to exploit the region under the guise of "green capitalism".  Visit isj.org.uk
